The Guards Chapel – Duke of Wellington Barracks

Michenuels of London Ltd have the privealage of being entrusted with the restoration and cleaning to revive The Guard’s Chapel Cross shaft, made from Rosewood, it was totally taken apart, re-glued and set.

In the decorative silver front it has a square locket with a diamond encrusted heart with a pear drop sapphire in the centre, which humbly holds a lock of hair with an inscription engraved in the silver which says “In love of Baz Willie October 1896.

On the back an inscription is engraved in the silver which reads;
“In memory of William George Edmonstone, Lieut 2nd Batt Coldstream Guards, Killed in action 15 Sept 1916 and also his Mother Ida, Lady Edmonstone.” ... Quite moving!
